Sexuality is only a tiny part of Tantra.
Actually, the ancient sexual practices aren't remotely sexy, in the standard sense of the word. But we are a culture deeply deprived of sexual wisdom, a culture that is down right bi-polar in it's view of the body and it's hungers. I use sexuality as a starting point because the need for the tending these personal and cultural wounds is great, and the integrated self-development system of Tantra is a powerful healing balm.
We ingest a toxic psychic burden with this cultures limited view of the body. When we expect our body to perform like a machine, and serve our every whim, we miss the point. Tantra Yoga teaches that our authentic desires hang out on the surface of a profound store of energy, power, and self awareness that is ours to tap. We are only just on the edge of learning the potential of our flesh when the contractions are gone, and our awareness is ON!
Tantra is a continuously evolving science of enlightenment that holds as a foundational principle the necessity of PRACTICE. The expansion of consciousness cannot happen through study, or philosophy alone. Mastery of integrated energies of body, heart, and mind, and the cultivation of Shakti - creative power - comes with experimentation, and practical application of spiritual tools and technologies.
Even if your goal isn’t quite so lofty as Enlightenment, these practices can be of significant benefit to those seeking a more loving relationship with their own body, or to those looking to create a healthy lifestyle that is easy and pleasurable to maintain. Tantric meditation and yoga is quite friendly to the typlcal Western, hyper-distracted mind. My teaching style is completely centered on your needs, interests, and abilities, and intentions. We will experiment to find the perfect practices that will both support and "grow" you.
We work hard enough already, taking care of ourselves, and evolving shouldn't be a chore. ~ With Tantra, it’s an adventure.
